You're only allowed to use .caf, .aif, or .wav files.

Your right. Sorry about that.

No worries. There's no clear cut reason for that limitation, it's just there.

On the Stanford iPhone class they have some sample code for using AVAudioPlayer (it's in 2.2) and they are loading an mp3 from within the project.

This is an intersting area to me, so post any reasons you shy away from it. Cheers!

Seems like Video Egg and Pinch Media are meant for established high volume traffic players. AdMob is more for true startups.

Appreciate your offer, would love to have a few people to compare notes with on this. Right now working on getting our app through the door.

Like your idea - dangerous time consumer!

We're in the same boat... submission process is killing me.

I wish we could have launched with some of our other iPhone products because right now our company looks pretty riskque... we have a lot more planned completely unrelated to the website I posted above.

what do you mean by dangerous time consumer? :)

I hear you, so much to do, so little time. That's why I said your app is dangerous. People can easily sit there for a while going through the rumor mill instead of coding:)

I do like their tone so I have written them. I just find it a bit disappointing that these ad networks expect you to sign up without knowing what the advertising rates are.

Seems like there's good community support behind VIM/Emacs and TextMate. Though mainly I get a sense that many try a few and settle into one. I think my strategy will be to try VIM or Emacs or both, and if I find the learning curve too high, switch over to TextMate. Thanks!

Also what do you guys think timing wise for an acquisition? It's moving at a far slower pace than I thought, though with such huge companies, I shouldn't be so surprised.

I think Yahoo does have some promising products, but is facing an AOL-ish future of scatteredness. Also, the employees might be patient enough to wait it out, but are the shareholders willing?

Not focusing on how you feel socially inept goes a long way. People will cut you some slack if you cut yourself some.

I started my company in Seattle and just recently moved to SF -- even though Seattle is extremely tech-friendly, it's still like moving from the countryside into the Big City. Ideas abound, it's like the whole city is involved in a big brainstorming session. Even if you don't need more talent or money (lucky you!), your product benefits.
