If you bought it from Amazon, and the warranty states that the manufacturer is Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. which is based in Irvine, CA, then this is an US company accountable to US law. Basically, it appears that Toshiba is in violation of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act which is enforced by the Federal Trade Commission, as well as the Attorney General.
