Given that the newspaper business is in decline, it seems suspicious that Rupert Murdoch, who owns Fox News and the New York Post, is starting a paper in LA. The LA Times has it's own problems, but this would almost certainly make things worse. Why do people think this is happening, and being allowed to happen?
I have a hunch California is going to a more competitive state next election cycle than people are assuming. Several democrats I know there are absolutely open to voting independent/republican and the tech industry (from the outside) almost reminds me of Michigan a decade ago, where democrats were so confident it was a sure thing. Then Trump came out of nowhere with anti-immigration rhetoric and promising formerly-comfortable auto workers more jobs.
The H-1B via changes he's making, if they go through, will turn some cali voters towards republicans, or have zero motivation to vote democrat.
