Of the three, it only matters whether China blinks. The other two don't matter, and China damned well better have options in depth other than blinking or not blinking. Mao Zedong was notoriously complacent about China's ability to survive (in whatever sense of the word) all-out war. Is Xi Jinping any smarter?
