Stepping back the way I see it is it’s a cultural thing. Apple loves to own the whole stack and even though circumstances forced them to use the hot new thing because it’s useful, Apple as an organization doesn’t really wanna do that. It wants to have its own stuff, and so it could never really make something succeed that wasn’t its own and that’s why it failed. So far.
