I was wondering if there's any recommendations on a reference book (of sorts) for home repair/maintenance.

Something in the same ilk as "practical electronics for inventors" or Haynes manuals for cars.

I remember seeing one in an antique bookstore once: sick reference book with schematics and diagrams for everything, which I think was to do with building and maintaining a house.

I will be a homeowner soon and I think it would be worthwhile to have a reference book handy.
