Wait a sec. 4k Blu-ray players must be online to play a disc?

I myself only have BD players for regular discs (which I never connected online), but a few times I was really thinking about getting a UHD player for a couple of my favorite movies... but if they must be online, I will just try to survive on the 4k rips that fall off of the 4k-video-transporting-truck...


This probably only applies to Windows. Hardware players don't need Internet access.


I have to assume from this that AACS 2.1 hasn't been defeated yet, unlike the original AACS?
