What makes you think that a machine specifically designed to generate outputs based on previously observed patterns will produce "quality movies that don't follow predictable / mainstream cliches"?
Three reasons. First, because it doesn't have to output the most common patterns, it can output the less common niche patterns, apply known pattens to more niche topics, or generate unique / uncommon combinations of patterns. Second, the winning pattern (combinations) are selected by humans (i.e. people viewing and sharing); each niche can select for the ones that are most interesting. Third, we won't be eliminating humans entirely. i.e. rather than big mainstream production studios, tiny studios or even one person "shops" with the tooling power of a production studio is what this tech will enable.
