Programmers like their text editors, or rather, IDEs, which are most likely orders of magnitude more powerful and featureful in text-editing, debugging etc capabilities than Cursor, plus they're agumented by plugins.

Agreed. This was my first take too. Once properly configured VS Code is an excellent IDE for many languages. And for me the paid PyCharm is slightly better. And that’s before Copilot integration.

Seems like a steep uphill climb. Maybe they are focusing on only one or a handful of languages to start? I haven't tried the beta.
