Some strange things allegedly happened in Japan. The trending topics allegedly were strongly curated, but now they aren't anymore. So basically trends went back to topics that people really liked (of course it was anime...). Not fluent in Japanese, so I heard it from others. Wonder if there is a similar strong curation going on elsewhere.

Most users seem to like the change and Twitter is pretty big in Japan.
