Actually, that's how Tokyo is spelled in many languages besides German.


It used to be spelled Tokio in English speaking countries before the 1950s

if an hn headline says something like "best practices for Phoenix" nobody expects it to refer to the city Phoenix, Arizona, USA. It's more likely Elixir Phoenix, the web framework. Or it could be one of a ton of other software projects called Phoenix.
