Strong claims require strong evidence.

When somebody starts making sensational claims like "bringing power back to the people" it makes me think they are trying to distract me from something.

When was freenode's power taken from the people? Who are "the people" anyway? Who took away their power? What exactly was freenode's power anyway? Other than chat.

So many questions.

I think they mean BACK TO THE PEOPLE IN MY MANSION.

Actually, the influence of that company is old news.

Freenode people have now moved on with a new name. But the reason was that yes that company did have some control over that domain name apparently.

Go to the Freenode IRC (if it still exists) and talk to the people there.

Then go to the Libera.chat IRC and talk to those people.

You can confirm where the people are.

Freenode changed hands in 2018 to London Trust Media; this is well documented. What has happened now is that they are now taking over the actual operations of the network.

It seems London Trust Media recently rebranded as Imperial Family Companies; londontrustmedia.com now redirects there.
