I had this same problem. Turns out that the referrer header must come from google for it to work. So:

1. Enable sendRefererHeader in about:config (if you've disabled it in Firefox)

2. Turn off referrer spoofing if you're using uMatrix (or add this rule: referrer-spoof: wsj.com false)
