Got mass banned for stating that a misunderstood comment was not to be seen in its negative light.

No thanks.

I loved the way this game allowed for very different tactics (go all guns blazing or go stealth).

Yup an open world and quite smart enemies made me explore the same checkpoint dozens of times, to get the most perfect approach.

FC didn't have checkpoints. That was introduced in FC2 (set in Africa).

FC2, FC3, FC4, FC5 and FC6 had checkpoints

I believe the game did autosave at "checkpoints" when certain triggers were met.

I don't think that was what the parent I replied to meant by "checkpoints" when he said

> made me explore the same checkpoint dozens of times,

FC1 checkpoints were game progression checkpoints. FC2 checkpoints were in-game road checkpoints.

I did mean the autosave checkpoints (and never played FC2).

So attacking, in the end load again, different strategy ..

Yep. You could also open in-game console and use a command to force checkpoint

Is there any way to know who's behind a DDoS attack?

Interesting that using the recovery key stopped the issue for you, but does not seem to do its job now. From the article "Ken said he enabled a recovery key for his account as instructed, but that it hasn’t stopped the unbidden system alerts from appearing on all of his devices every few days.

KrebsOnSecurity tested Ken’s experience, and can confirm that enabling a recovery key does nothing to stop a password reset prompt from being sent to associated Apple devices. "

A password reset prompt is sent to the devices, but unfortunately the article leaves out that the prompt only enables you to reset the password on the device that receives the prompt. So it is not a security issue, just an annoyance.

"A simple, self-hosted RSVP system for parties" https://joinmobilizon.org/en/ is the fediverse version of this

Nice! Thanks for sharing! The fact that it's fediverse is unfortunately a non-starter for almost all of my friends

Full title (too long for HN) "With Silicon Valley 'visionaries', profits are prioritised over true technological progress"

it's exaclty that, and it's based on them doing it to several high profile apps (ex: evernote)
