23:13 for a young Marc Andreessen writing down what presumably is Steve Jobs' number.

For Poland, you have to be local to Warsaw, sorry :(

Teradata Labs | local in Boston, MA or remote within US timezone; local in Warsaw, Poland | H1B transfer OK

Our group within Teradata Labs (Teradata Center for Hadoop) is an active contributor to the SQL on Hadoop open source project PrestoDB. We're looking for senior software engineers to join us in bringing PrestoDB to the enterprise!

Here is our technology stack:

- Presto is entirely written in Java 8

- Administrative and infrastructure support tools are written in Python

- We use Git for source control

- We are big believers in continuous integration so we run builds and tests continuously on Jenkins

- We use Chef, Vagrant, Docker and Cobbler for automated installation and environment provisioning

- We work with various distributions of Hadoop

As a Senior Engineer you’ll be responsible for the following:

- Building new functionality into Presto to increase enterprise adoption

- “Thinking at Scale” and being a performance conscious engineer

- Applying strong familiarity with algorithms and complexity analysis, database systems, and distributed systems concepts

- Writing unit, integration, and system tests that run in our continuous integration environment

- Collaborating with teams members to solve engineering problems

The Teradata Center for Hadoop was established through the acquisition of a startup (Hadapt) and so the culture and feel of our office is still very much that of a startup.

PM me if you're interested :)

No PM capability on Hacker News, any other way to get in touch with you?

Didn't know that. You can e-mail me directly anton DOT petrov AT teradata DOT com

Does anyone know or have an estimate on how many of the 233,000 total are filed under the Master's cap?

If we can extrapolate from the numbers at [1] (not sure how representative it is) then about 29% of the 233,000 total petitions would be filed under the Master's cap. That'd be around 67,337 Master's cap petitions.

It guess this mostly matters for people who meant to apply through the Master's cap (graduates of US colleges with Master's degrees). Since there were more than 20k (as USCIS stated), the rest are reduced to regular applicants.

But it's not like they're "taking your spot" in the lottery; if there was no preferential treatment for Master's, they'd still apply as regular applicants.

I'm curious too. Also it wasn't clear what the number was last year.

What about Hive?

I don't think they make monitors wide enough to show Hive results on the same graphs.

They pitched at TechCrunch Disrupt yesterday. Here's the video http://techcrunch.com/2014/10/20/microblink-launches-photoma...

Interesting ... I find the IntelliJ interface to be much more visually appealing than Eclipse's, especially when I use the dark theme.

UK and Germany would also be good options. I know the UK has a points based system so if you are highly educated with a good salary in the US you will most likely meet the highly skilled point quota and receive a work permit.

Would you know how hard it is to obtain permanent residency in those countries?

In the UK if you have a Tier 2 visa then you apply for "Indefinite leave to remain" after 5 years of residency. The only restrictions are that you cannot spend more than 180 days outside the UK in any 12 months and your employer (sponsor) still needs you for your job.
