You sound like someone I know. I agree with the above. This cert is definitely applicable for engineering tasks at my place of business and something I will probably pursue. It's very beneficial when proposing on harder tasks. Web dev, which I do as well, generally doesn't reach this level of rigor.
That's the thing. My rational self says this is a nice design. But the first impression is "domain parking page".
It might just be too high pressure, buy now, etc. Might also be the numbers in the name. And then there's the "Breaking news" bar. Reminds me of the shopping channel :)
But it is still a nicely made page, and it is clear that quite a lot of work went into it.
It's funny how you can be happy with something for so long and then...BOOM! You see it in a completely different way. HN is definitely good for that :)
I think you need to keep ironing out your solution first. A logo is not as important as a great product. Once you can afford (from your project's profit?) a designer, hire them to help you solidify your presence. Good luck!
Agreed! I have so many favorite career moments, but that definitely tops the list. The second being coming up with the entire concept of their site because they don't know what they want.
