Well this really debunks my common phrase “Apple is a Privacy company, not a Security company”
I can’t say I’m surprised they are implementing this (if true), under the radar. I can’t imagine a correct way or platform for Apple to share this rollout publicly. I’m sure nothing will come of this, press will ignore the story, and we all go back to our iPhones
Apple only claim to care about privacy because they couldn't manage to compete with Google on running ad-serving cloud service. Since they couldn't sell ads in meaningful number, they figured they might as well brag about it.
But Apple iCloud for ex doesn't intrude on your privacy any more or less than Google Photos.
This is really a pointless comment - yes all companies are ultimately there to make money, but that does not mean always blindly doing whatever makes the most money in the short term. Clearly apple sees value in marketing themselves as privacy friendly.
Reason number 368 why I've moved everything to Safari + DuckDuckGo. I still can't believe they won the suit with Genius and being caught poaching their content for their own representation
Hi Peter - My fiance currently works for a large tech company in the bay area, and is on a H1B visa currently. They would like to apply for their green card, but have been told by the HR that everything is on "pause", but they will continue to collect information in preparing the green card application. How true is this, and do we have any other options? To answer, no we do not plan to marry, though I know this can expedite things. Thanks.
I'm also going from H1-B -> Green Card. The first chunk of the process is with the Department of Labor and so they should be able to get started on that
I just dropped my left airpod pro replacement in the mail today. Fingers crossed this works, I had the right one replaced just three months ago for not charging. The "seal test" never works either for both ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I do agree these have by far been the most needy/buggy pair of wireless headphones I've owned in the past 5 years (Beats, Bose, Sony, Anker, B&O). Yes, I own a lot of headphones
I have replaced my right AirPod (1 in 3 months), but as yet, these don't hold a candle to the PowerBeats3. I think I went through 5 replacements in 1.5 years.
With PowerBeats, I had to send in the headphones for warranty repair, losing any use (in the couple of cases they maybe, kind of kept working). For the replacement AirPod, at least Apple sent the replacement before I had to send it back to them.
I've always been curious of picking up a pair of bluetooth B&O buds, but as an Apple user - the W1/H1 chip for constant pairing with no interference in high traffic areas (subway, city streets) is huge
You're kidding right? There's SFPD/SFMTA workers everywhere diverting traffic. There's even a long thread on reddit of everyone thanking everyone out there doing all this work.
I rode in this morning and they were all there again so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Yesterday was also the first day. The real question is, will there be enforcement 6 months, 20 months, 90 months from now when it's no longer in the headlines.
They literally did not budge and shipped the product as presented from months prior, yet, no coverage
