At one point I subscribed to groups on Satisfactory, Factorio and RimWorld and while I don't play much anymore it's always nice to see posts on my feed made by people engaged with these games.
When algorithm doesn't have a handle on you it puts you at the bottom of the barrel that's filled with slop.
I think the problem is Meta doesn't moderate algorithm enough so a lot of users have terrible experience becausd they don't moderate their feeds themselves.
Most people are not self-aware enough to decide that maybe political rants is not the healthiest content to consume. And even if they do, tools for moderation are not easily accessible enough. There should be a huge "Yeah, I hated that." button on each post.
"I'm not interested" and "Don't show posts from this person" is the dowvote button for the algorithm. If you use those functions liberally your feed gets pretty clean and aligned.
I used to belong to a FB nostalgia group that was being relentlessly farmed by Indonesian accounts. The group members (and even the admins) weren't sophisticated enough to spot what was happening. They were absolutely engaging with the spam. They love AI colorizations too.
I don't trust "facebook users" as a group to provide a signal I consider useful.
HN model works, people do downvote for you, if you are just like everybody else here. You indicate that by visiting HN.
In more universal platform such as Facebook you need to indicate who you are by subscribing to specific groups or downvoting some of the content yourself. Just visiting. Facebook is not enoug. Once you signal who you are you also benefit from other people just like you downvoting content you wouldn't like, for you.
Ad industry is one of the most vile things on the internet. You won't find any sympathy here. You might have been blisfully unaware that you are hated in the nation until now, but noone is wishing you well. Even though the problem you rise is legitimate and interesting the internet couldn't have asked for a more deserving entity to have it.
I think it might be pretty good for translation. Especially when fed with small chunks of the content at a time so it doesn't lose track on longer texts.
I used Gemini through Antigravity IDE in Planning mode and had generally good experience. It was pretty capable, but I don't really read chat history, I don't trust it. I just look at the diffs.
I hope with computers getting better at handling soft materials we could finally get fully automated tailor as a service. Mass production in clothing has so many pathologies that it needs to be replaced with something better and less wasteful asap.
