This is not a news story related to technology or startups, nor is it though provoking or inspirational. I don't see how this belongs on HN, other than for tabloid sensationalism.
Agreed. CoffeeScript is a leaky abstraction of JS; the underlying paradigm of JS still peeks out even though it's papered over (see the fat arrow =>).
Once you have a grasp of JS (and the things you might not like about it), you can then move to CS. When something looks a bit off in CS, you'll probably be able to translate why it is that way due to the JS underpinning.
Apparently their logo is ";-)". At first I thought they just had this annoying tendency to overuse the wink emoticon and found it a bit creepy. Then I saw it all over their menus and found it a bit creepy. Then I realized they appeared to be using it as their logo and I found it creepy.
What's the licensing situation with such models? I seem to remember Lucasfilm (http://www.lucasfilm.com/divisions/licensing/) being pretty active ($3 billion in licensing revenue in 2011), but presumably they're not interested if there's no money involved?
Today, without download option, we are just considered like YouTube: a service hosting files uploaded by users, on which we have no control. When we launch download & commercialization of models, we will indeed have to find a licensing deal for copyright content.
