Here on Fedora 42 I couldn't past "Waiting for auth... (Press ESC to cancel)" when selecting Auth Method,However switching to gnome-terminal got that working.
Huh, that's interesting. I wouldn't imagine that there were security problems specific to FUSE compared to any other software that you would run on your servers. Regardless, I see FUSE as the fastest path to getting our protcol in the hands of our customers. In the fullness of time, I hope that we can deliver it as either a kernel-module or in-tree.
As a sysadmin, the only thing I miss about Sun hardware and Solaris was how reliable it was. My record for uptime was over 6 years on a Sun Blade workstation.
There goes 25% of Apple’s profits. Who needs to sell iPhones in China anyways. And 50% of GM’s profits. Who needs to sell American cars in China anyways. And Boeing. And Intel. And AMD. And nVidia. And Microsoft. And Tesla. Sweet sweet Tesla that just opened up a gigafactory in Shanghai. Profits vaporized. The list goes on..
There goes the fake stock market while we’re at it. A huge chunk of that value is from China. But, let’s go ahead and decouple.
China still needs the US and the world still needs China. But not a powerful China that rivals the US and has an extremely authoritarian ideology and is willing to commit genocide of people that have been there for thousands of years.
To gloss over the effect of introduced disease and how the people of time had no understanding of immunity is to present a disingenuous argument.
The treatment of the first people’s was horrible, and still isn’t ideal. But to act like the USA was responsible for everything since 1492, centuries before the USA existed, while ignoring immunity, is to show that no serious debate will be possible.
FB can and should ban whoever they want, for whatever reason. Just make it publicly clear why, along with all of the name of the people on this "oversight board". I probably shouldn't assume this board will be guided by the U.S. view of free speech.

The US view of free speech is that private firms (other than regulated common carriers, etc.) have it and don't have to use their platform to relay your speech unless they’ve made a contract with you to do so.
I would assume that The Oversight Board will be guided by this, plus whatever more specific guidelines FB has specified.
