Taiyaki Studios | React Native | Tokyo | On-site Full Time | Will Sponsor Visa

We’re creating animated dramas from Webtoons/Manga and releasing them on our own app/webapp.

This role will primarily focus on building the mobile and web platforms for delivering our shows, but as a small team of 4 we all wear many hats and are exploring creating interactive content as well.

We license finished shows and webtoons, and build tools to produce original content in-house.

Ideal candidate: We value fast learners who are language agnostic.

Bonus: Python, ComfyUI experience.

Japanese proficiency not required, though nice to have. We’ll pay for weekly lessons if you want them.

If you need visa sponsorship, you’ll need a bachelor’s or 10 years experience. Not our requirement, gov’t requirement. We’ll help with all relocation logistics.

We pay 20M JPY/yr (~$140k/yr) + equity, 3-4X median salary in Tokyo, you’ll live in luxury or save a good chunk of your salary.

What have you shipped, tinkered with, or hacked together? Let us know: careers@taiyakistudios.com

would a python developer with javascript and reactjs qualify?

Taiyaki Studios | Anime Pipeline Engineer | Tokyo | On-site Full Time | Will Sponsor Visa

We’re building new pipelines for anime production. Join us and empower animators to focus on the fulfilling stuff - story, character design, art direction, cinematography - and take the grunt work off their plate.

Our tools are being used to produce original content in-house, so you’ll get to work directly with animators and help make anime!

Ideal candidate: nimble problem solver, comfortable learning how to build tools that integrate with existing industry-standard software, even if you’ve never used said software before. We value fast learners who are language agnostic.

Bonus: Python, ComfyUI experience.

Hi, I'm interested in the opportunity. I already sent an email, and I'm wondering if there are any social media or platforms that I can get in contact with to ask some questions and maybe learn more details about the position.

Hello, I've sent you an email, I'm really interested in this job. Would also love to learn Japanese as a language.

this pay is way too low for a job that is effectively automating out inbetweeners. I have python experience and extensive ComfyUI experience. I will not be applying.

It’s a fantasy reference I believe. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lich

It has an Old English etymology of death and cemeteries, cf. lichgate

Lich does. Light doesn't.

If you have access to a PS3 Ratchet and Clank All 4 One is an excellent couch co-op game. Most of the LEGO games are great couch co-op too.

The term lactose intolerant is commonly used as shorthand for adult onset.

At the risk of being too self promotional.. you’re describing what we’ve done at Make School. An accredited 4 year bachelors condensed into 2 years of intense study, primary focus is project-based CS but we have a robust general education component as well.

As another commenter points out, the prototypical 4 year degree (which many in the US actually complete in 4-6 years) is a fairly American phenomenon. There’s plenty of precedent elsewhere for college as 2-3 years of rigorous study.

You're right, that was too self promotional.

Went to Startup Escape last week with my team! It was a lot of fun :)

I saw you signed up and meant to email you! I don't run it day to day, but I check every so often to see if companies I like play :) glad you had fun!

Make School co-founder here - now that we have accreditor approval, we're going through the necessary steps to ensure the program is GI Bill eligible. It's looking like we'll be able to confirm early next year.

That's awesome! One suggestion -- if the VA slow-rolls anything, call up Pelosi's staff. Not only is she your local SF rep, she will be looking for quick wins as she takes back the gavel and improving transition opportunities for vets is hot right now in DC.

Very helpful advice, thank you!

Hey Austen - we should meet!

We have a 4 term sequence of CS courses that cover most if not all the topics listed on your curriculum page. These topics are also touched upon and put to practice in our mobile, web, and to some extent our data science courses.

It's only our Summer Academy which caters to students enrolled at others schools on summer vacation which focuses on app or VR development.

Cool. Ya we should meet sometime.

Make School (also YC, W12), has offered income based repayment since 2014 for our college program www.makeschool.com/product-college. There are now 3 cohorts of students who have gotten jobs and paid us under this model and a 4th is entering this fall.
