it only takes a couple days to lose your tolerance. if you have to use melatonin, try the smallest dose you can

great comment. as an independent game developer i’ve noticed similar things about game players. they are more entitled than saas product users for some reason.

i think it’s because they go to games for fun. if there’s a bug in a game, it ruins their fun. a bug in facebook— who cares? you can just come back tomorrow. and a bug in a saas product, slack or gmail is a reason to go home from work early.

How exactly do you reach the conclusion that gamers are entitled because they expected features explicitly said to be in the game by the lead designer and developer? Sure, gamers can be an ornery bunch, but in this instance Sean deserved everything he got short of the perpetual harassment and threats. He literally defrauded the people who bought his game, and that's not hyperbole.

i agree with the dsa and chapo style socialists on everything except this issue. the “affordable housing” thing drives me absolutely crazy. pass laws that enforce affordable housing if you can, but the zoning thing is the biggest issue.

their argument is always aesthetic as well. “nice homes are replaced with big brutalist nightmares.” the guy on the street would much prefer to live in a modernist building.

other people have addressed the problems with your position so i would just like to add that you’re wildly insensitive if you really think that this is due to the irresponsible habits of the poor.

i still think brasseye is better, but onn was very good too

that’s what happens to me, except it’s delayed by 30 seconds because it loads so slowly.

the second paragraph is just not true. every popular website without privacy as a selling point has dozens of trackers. journalism and social media have been tilted heavily towards clickbait because ads are perceived as the only way to make money. the only companies that will get to continue doing what they do without much hassle are widely liked services like netflix and spotify.

"meaningful"

The idea that every tracker and targeted ad is some sort of meaningful privacy violation is pretty silly.

As it turns out not everyone agrees with you. That doesn't make it silly, that makes it a difference of opinion.

And in any case, the point is that together all those little violations are a meaningful violation of your privacy.

there’s a great npr interview with him. apparently he never owned more than $75 worth of doge at today’s value.

I made a genuine small profit mining Dogecoin back in the day. Between that and Litecoin I was able to make my two 400$ HD7970s pay for themselves, even after accounting for electricity.

Edit: Wanted to add that the success (Well, maybe not 'success', but popularity) of Dogecoin should highlight the value of making things accessible. Not everything needs to be a silly meme, but making things fun and building a community can make a huge difference.

My 3 months of mining back in the day (aka heating my apartment with video cards instead of electric heaters) netted me about $4000 a few months ago. I found it hilarious.

All I can say is wow.

Such mine. Much electric bill.

this is my favorite wolfe as well. i was taking undergrad classes in architecture and my dad gave me the book. it made me realize that all my classes were avoiding the negative or downright stupid aspects of modernism.

my favorite part was how mies van der rohe liked buildings that looked “authentic” with undecorated steel beams visible, but because it was against the fire safety code in the usa he just glued some i-beams to the side of his chicago skyscrapers. the guy literally decorated buildings to represent a lack of decoration. this is the guy famous for the slogan “less is more.”

i am hopeful for the idea that shifting from ads to paid services will reduce clickbait. right now may be seen as the yellow journalism moment of the internet.
