If you were in Europe in the Age of Discovery, would you have said that about coming over to the Americas?

I'm curious if you've thought thru actual locations for building said city (especially if site is in US). I just finished "Triumph of the City" and it really echoed this.

I definitely think it's possible.

Have you been keeping up with Sidewalk Labs, YC Research and their attempts to reshape cities?

Also, would look at Tom Currier's stuff (although he is no longer actively working on this) https://medium.com/@tomcurrier/build-something-people-want-1...

YC is still an order of a magnitude smaller than YC. 200 startups per year, so maybe 600 founders at the max. Even if YC is trying to build in exclusivity, there's much to be gained before they hit Stanford's scale.

Also, I don't think it will be that hard to scale advice for their startups. All that's needed is to add more partners. Although this might complicate their org/management structure.

Your comment reminded me of PG's "Cities and Ambition" essay. http://paulgraham.com/cities.html

Why is guns the only technological comparison? Replace guns in your statement with mobile phones or access to the internet.

Agreed! That'd be really interesting. I was thinking more BERK though. Wonder if Sam's Shareholder Letters could receive the same readership as Buffett's Shareholder Letters.

I think you mean BRKA / BRKB
