interestingly they don't actively seek investment for their AI company because their hedge fund makes enough profit to fund themselves

for a while now the work in phd/academia rarely involved 'field work'.

90% of the time it is spend analyzing data or writing up proposals/grants/papers. i don't think AI was the turning point.


i think it's good. Google has a record of being stable and working with large partners (govt etc) and avoids the controversial cult of altman.

i mean solar energy already exist so it's not exactly as 'far flung' as they claim.

what they are probably doing however is testing the feasibility for a solar laser weapon as seen in many sci-fi shows


so unlike google who just terminates product lines, microsoft forces migration/adoption of it's products to keep their metrics

for a company that keeps boasting how they can collect intel, know everything and control the narrative/future, they seem quite insecure to criticism and overcompensate for any negative feedback

Their stock chart is a precarious peak based on the hope of endless taxpayer bailouts.

i find regardless of how you pull it off it does curve eventually tho

i get it, like why waste your time checking potential slop unless your main task is QC

hopefully it's reducing the demands of snacks filled with artificial crap and shifting the trend to give manufacturers an incentive to focus on healthier alternatives

i think over time tastes will change as people appreciate that function can define form, unlike the other way round
