This is a play on a quote from the Unabomber. "The Industrial Revolution and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race."

"The idea that all of the world should be measured in dollars to stockholders is actually a relatively new idea. It used to be that we thought that businesses had their purpose. Your purpose was to be making newspapers or fountain pens or whatever. And now we act as though the only purpose of a business was to enrich the people who trade it on Wall Street… Of course you’ve got to have profit, of course you’ve got to support your ownership. But that’s not why we’re doing it. We’re doing it because publishing a newspaper is a crucial thing to be doing." ~Andy Barnes

Companies use to be temporary, created for the public good (like building bridges) and did not exist to make a profit.

Sounds like a great quote, but when exactly were businesses just about "making stuff"? Look at the Hudson Bay company back in the 1600's. That was about profit, not making stuff.

And what is this "we act as though the only purpose of a business was to enrich the people who trade it on Wall Street"? No, the purpose is to make profit for shareholders, including the average everyday Joe with a 401k or pension.

How many centuries ago was that? Do we really want to go back to a world where the biggest threat to your life was starvation?

Less than 2 centuries. You think it's good to have bigger threats than starvation?

I think it's good that starvation isn't a concern and we can worry about lesser stuff.

You confuse "corporation" with "company"

Seams like Automattic went the right way with using WordPress and their P2 Theme for internal use. [0] Departments, groups, or people can have their own "boards". Within that you can write posts or comment, mention people. The P2 theme is great for one liners to walls of text and pictures. Plenty of plugins to expand as need desire...

they use slack.

It's new, but I'm interested in seeing how it develops.

> Confusing how the wind is animated, nothing else is; for example, the temp, precipitation, etc.

There is a play button in the bottom left to animated the currently selected heat map over time.

On mobile? If so, I'm not seeing it. Checked the settings too.

He has a lot of interesting conversations on Tested [0], as well as a lot of conference talks that are posted online. The amount of stuff he makes is impressive. He is also very open about his failures and how he has learned from them.

Sounds great! I'll check him out, thanks!

>> Pay more than the average of $4.56 to unlock!

I find that to be an interesting idea, since the average will only increase over time.

I've bought a number of humble bundles and have noticed that there is generally a steady rise in price over the first day of a bundle being announced. For example when I bought this bundle the unlock price was $4.18.

What works well for them is including another "premium" title at about twice the opening unlock price; Democracy 3 for $8 in this case.

I'd guess that the unlock price will rise to around $6 over the course of the day.

Not necessarily, people can pay less than average, they might not be interested in the "unlockable" games.

Not necessarily, because I assume not everyone buys the unlockables, so the average could move downwards, too.

Will it? As I understand it people can pay $0.01 and just get everything else and no steam keys.

>> Independent variables on the x-axis and dependent variables on the y.

Correct. The independent variable being the number of items and the dependent variable being the time it takes to run said number of items.

>> Time should be on the x-axis.

Time should be on the y-axis. It's the time it takes to execute, given a set of items.

It's simply plotting 'seconds' over 'items'. Neither axis is a compound unit.

One penny-cup. That is the answer to the first question. The answers needed units.
