I'm okay with going with regular telco, just wondering what the best options are if it's internet only. Probably a good time to try out the new chrome gadget.
Comcast business unfortunately is the most universal non crappy data option. Comcast is shit for support and policies, and performance varies, and they are evil, but their business product is marginally better. Webpass rocks if you are in one of their buildings. Sonic.net has an annex b two line bonded DSL product which is also proper IFF you are near enough one of their COs. sonic has the best policies/management, by far. If you live near a CO you can get 30/6 fusion. I have a deprecated YC deal for $55-80/mo 27/12 Comcast business; if I lived near a sonic co I'd go with them instead.
We (co-founders) all saved up for a few months runway but we also didn't launch the business until we had a committed client which meant we were close to cash flow positive from day 1.
Launched a vertical ad network a few years ago with 2 friends.
Took no salary for 6 months, then a small salary to pay the bills for the next 9 months.
Then... business started to grow to yearly low seven figures in revenue and we're now paying ourselves a reasonable salary, contributing to retirement, and building up our company's cash reserves for future investments.
- They answer right away, (rarely on hold) and on several occasions they've
- Every six months when we ask to have our credit limit increased they do it
Interesting point. If / when online poker is legal do you think off-shore companies like PokerStars will move their operations to the US? Will that be part of the deal to allow US players back to their gaming platforms?
As a side note, I hope this continues to move forward. I would gladly pay taxes on my poker winnings and receive checks from legitimate banks as opposed to the KBG Bank of Canada (or something like that) where I used to get my checks from in the past.
We're a small team of three (25, 28, 28) and the company pays for each person's individual plan with Anthem Blue Cross rather than a group plan which was more expensive for essentially the same coverage. It's about $200 per person per month.
Be careful with that, since individual insurance can and will drop you when things go south. A group plan protects employees from that although rates will go way up if someone has a major health issue of some kind.
My understanding was this is not possible from a tax perspective? I thought you had to buy a group plan if you wanted the business to cover, except for HSA contributions. Relevant links would be appreciated, since this is the route I wanted to go down for my business partner and I (young, healthy no need for the safer group plan).
wow that's incredible. what does the company chip-in/cover per month for each person? or is that included in the $200 cost per person per month that you mentioned? how much would it cost to cover a spouse/child? i've seen some plans from empire blue cross (i don't think anthem covers NYC), and it's nowhere near that low.
