You should have just tried the WICD package, which replaced Network Manager quite well.

I did try the WICD package and it didn't work.

Sorry - it was just that HN recognized the link as being submitted before, but it had an awful and completely irrelevant title, so no one would know what it was unless they went hunting for this amazing script at random; unless they knew it existed in the first place and went looking for it.

In other words, it completely defeated the purpose of sharing the link, because they would have only known about it if it was there. A true catch-22.

All I wanted to do was let HN readers know how to enhance their user experience here on the site in the best way possible.

Perhaps, however, the real question should be "Why doesn't HN have features like this integrated from the start up?" How come some scripting hackers can integrate something like a basic search function into the site, while HN can't seem to do so itself?

MIT has posted the course and video lectures online, in case anyone was interested: http://ocw.mit.edu/OcwWeb/Electrical-Engineering-and-Compute...

Central NJ, but the trains make it very easy to get to NYC. PM me... wait, do we have PM on HN?

Feathers are made by a Japanese surgical tool company. They are considered by many to be the sharpest blade you can purchase.

That said, practice with Merkur or Derby's before you graduate to feathers.

I bought the Derbys on Amazon as well (100 pack for 15 bucks! Two year supply, basically, instead of a stretched 2 month supply for 30 dollar Gillettes) but I have to say I prefer the feeling of the Merkurs. Still, the price is right for the Derbys, though I do want to try feathers in the future.

I have some hope for the adventure genre yet, even after being seriously let down by Monkey Island 4 (make sure you've played Monkey Island 3 and Grim Fandango though; they're both excellent!)

That said, I've heard Psychonauts is good, though I haven't played it. My understanding is it's free on Gametap.

One that I missed when I was growing up was Touche: The Adventures of the 5th Musketeer - it's just about as good as the Lucasarts games - Note: there is a version with full voice acting, and this is the only place I know where you can actually get it: http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/3557929/Touche_-_The_adventu...

I haven't played this, but it's supposed to be very good as well (made from ex Lucasarts members): http://www.vampyrestory-game.com/

I found the Sam and Max series from Telltale very underwhelming and disapointing, so I never played past episode 4 in the first season.

On a somewhat related genre note, I've also found the game Beyond Good and Evil to be as immersive and entertaining as the MI series.

Could you post the text of the article here, seeing as the server is down? I, and I'm sure others, haven't had the chance to read it yet...

Exactly - this screws over Google Chrome, which is a shame because it's a slick browser (though I personally am keeping a closer eye on the Chromium project, especially since I use Linux). I'm not sure this is ultimately to the benefit of Google at all, as the author indicates, and might even be an offensive tactic against them, seeing as Google is really pushing their browser hard.

This looks like an awesome idea. I haven't been able to try it out yet because I'm running FF 3.07 (simply because Ubuntu repos haven't brought it up to 3.1 yet, and I don't really want to bother that much atm), but it reminds me of the controls built into some FPS's and even old Lucasarts Adventure games like Full Throttle or Grim Fandango. Except the default actions in this case are all favorite websites. Nice to see Mozilla labs pushing the envelope yet again.

Sorry, didn't see the date on the article until you mentioned it - then I found it on the bottom of the page. Still, it seems like interesting information to me. I want to form a routine around these principles. How well did this process work for you?

Also, could you be more specific about detrimental supplements?

worked very well. i doubled the weight i could handle in all muscle groups except legs (i have strong legs) over two months.

i highly recommend avoiding vitamins, supplements, powders, and such as much as possible. its easy to overdo them, and they will start to harm your liver. if you can find some sort of natural protein source powder, that would probably be cool. for context, i know someone who is in a coma after liver failure brought on through supplement usage.
