I like the polls. The thing is you don't get karma/points when someone votes. Someone has to upvote it to have it stay on the front page. If you don't like the poll or polls in general then you shouldn't up vote them.

And Google Lets You Change The Weather Too

I'm not sure this is another April Fool's Joke. I didn't find anywhere where it said "April Fools" but maybe I'm wrong.

Entering one of their vehicles in real NASCAR seems rather impossible, but perhaps an exhibition race? Still a long shot, but maybe... here's hoping.

I wonder if any existing rule prevents them from entering? I doubt anyone previously saw the need to say "all cars must have drivers".

NASCAR would never go for it. NASCAR is all about the drivers (characters).

No, that's impossible.

Link it to a php file on your server, and edit the php file to header('Location: the_actual_url') after the fact.

That isn't what is happening though, hover over the link and its a direct link to HN.

I was trying to figure that out too.

an ID can refer to a comment or a link, you can find the latest comments: http://news.ycombinator.com/newcomments latest links: http://news.ycombinator.com/newest

The easiest way to do it would be to pick an ID in the future (say 20 ahead of the latest one) then type the title and link out, then just keep refreshing the page for your selected ID minus one (for example, if your chosen ID is 3743040 refresh news.ycombinator.com/item?id=3743039) until you get a result then hit submit, if you're not too slow you'll get the ID 3743040.

Wow, your getting more votes than I did.

"It's all about the execution", "Usability counts", "Ideas are worthless", yadda yadda... Joking aside, congrats on finding the bug. I would send you the karma if I could!

He worded the post in a much more compelling way.

If only the link you had in your OP was clickable..

Let's try not to ruin the Front Page with a bunch of these. I believe one is enough.

If you go to this submission and click it, it up-votes this: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=3742745

You have to be signed in for it to work.

i'm logged in and still see that error

edit: also, that person has to be logged in. they replied =)

I'm not sure why it's not working then. It may be because it's getting so many votes.

They've probably already upvoted it so they can't vote it up again.

Pretty good. I was trying to think of something like they must be high to put things high in the sky.
