The article's subtitle asks "How did the GOP become a haven for slogans and ideas straight out of the Third Reich?" When the question is framed that way, the answer becomes crisply obvious: Everyone who remembers 1945 has died.

I don't think it's that simple, if it were the Democrats would be doing the same thing.

I think the article presents a slightly more nuanced view, in that white supremacist extremists found sympathy with the GOP's anti-leftist, pro Christian nationalist rhetoric and the implict racist undertones of the party's "culture war" narrative and post Southern Strategy politics. I think that that 9/11 and Obama were inflection points that led to the Republicans being fully consumed by their own lunatic fringe. Trump's election represented the death of the pretense.

Let's not forget that Hitler was inspired in many of his racist beliefs by the United States, its segregation and eugenics policies and its genocide of Native Americans. If not for World War 2, white supremacy and Christian fascism would still be at the root of American culture, we just wouldn't call it Nazism and be able to pretend it's fundamentally alien.

Why would they? At Waffle House, that is just another minute between 0 and 59. But of course we are assuming that he teleported to the back of the line.

Isn't teleportation inextricably linked to time travel (to the extent that either one is actually possible)? My point being that the staff might not remember him yet.

He claims in the article to have teleported twice which means that he could have teleported to a future waffle house (maybe even one that has not yet been constructed) before teleporting to the present.

Future archaeologists of technology will not be able to distinguish between machines such as this and the fancies of Rube Goldberg.

In long hindsight, it will be seen that the foremost effect of AI was to reinforce the mindset that everything is performance and nothing is real.

"just give me the result" means "just give me A result", never mind whether it is correct. It means "my job is to read the next line of the script, not to notice what the words say".

It is never permissible to distinguish between government and people.

Just close your eyes.
