wasnt crypto's entire usp its decentralized nature? No Fed,SEC or other centralized body that would breathe down your neck. People didnt want these institutions controlling thir assets, i guess the obvious downside of no regulatory support when things go wrong should be part of the risk one takes when investing in crypto.

I can plant tobacco and make "unregulated cigarretes" with the goal of not being regulated by any government. The goal is that you can smoke it anywhere, no regulations on its composition, and I can advertise it anywhere.
That does not matter, it is still regulated and I cannot unilaterally opt-out of government regulations. (Or I can, but that is a crime and is what crime organizations do).
The vast majority of bands are not like Justin Bieber. If most bands could even get people to care about them one way or another, they'd probably be happy.
There was a rather morbid photograph on one of the local news sites the other night of Austin looking south along I-35 during the rolling blackouts. The East Side was more or less pitch black. The west side - downtown, the capitol, the stadium, the Frost Bank building etc - was lit up like a Christmas tree.
The east side was created by redlining policies put in place 100 years ago, and is where much of Austin’s lower income population lives.
It wasn’t meant to be a comprehensive statistical analysis but it was a pretty stark photo.
I've recently taken an interest in these types of articles. Time read this one and the one in which someone reimplements the protocol used by their exercise bike. What are some good resources a beginner can h3ck out to learn what is attempted here?
I use a combination of nextcloud deck + all its other addons. I've installed it on a rasberry pi and a simple zerotier setup so that my notes are accessible over the internet.
Added bonus that this won't track every website I visit.
